Ice Bucket Challenge
The ”ice water bucket challenge,” the Ice Bucket Challenge, a charity competition for the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), it raises staggering numbers, and I am very happy about that. The ALS, the American association that promoted it, reports that it has collected nearly $42 million in donations. A record amount considering that last year during the same period (July 29-Aug. 21) $2.1 million was raised. I funds, the association explains on its website, are earmarked for the care of ALS patients and their families.
Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating neurodegenerative disease, that is, with lesions in the central nervous system. For many years it was considered a disease of the white matter of the central nervous system, however, a growing number of studies have also shown gray matter involvement.
In multiple sclerosis, damage and loss of myelin occurs in multiple areas (hence the name “multiple”) of the central nervous system. These areas of myelin loss (or “demyelination”) vary in size and are called plaques.
Today I was nominated by Red Ronnie in this action to raise awareness and charity for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and I also made my #ICEbucketChallenge video. But before I show you the video I wanted to leave the two links to the sites to donate and also sign a petition to sign the Bill of Rights for people with multiple sclerosis. Be sure to do so. Even as little as 10 € (the cost of a pizza…), but do it. There is a need to stick together, especially at this time.
I nominate in turn: Pico Rama, Matteo Brancaleoni, Enrico Ruggeri. But I alsonominate Giovanni Allevi(who knows if he will do it…), Ludovico Einaudi (what about him?) and finally Prime Minister Matteo Renzi(he said he will also make the video soon…we’ll see, I want to reiterate his nomination…) ice bucket challenge !
Here is my video!
